  • CommentaryThe firm of Julius Meinl was founded in 1862 as a colonial goods trading company. In 1912 Meinl established a food and confectionary factory in Vienna and an import office in London especially for coffee. The first Meinl Coffee Poster had already appeared in 1890. Meinl hired well-known artists to design his advertising material and packaging. Especially the work of Joseph Binder attracted international attention and was published in specialist journals such as ›The Studio‹ (London) and ›Gebrauchsgraphik‹ (Berlin). Still today you find elements of Binder’s work in Meinl’s corporate design.
